Uplifting Lives as Christmas nears

AirAsia Philippines has marked the return of the Cebu-Davao and Cebu-Cagayan de Oro by gifting 30 street children in Cebu and Davao cities with the experience of being among the passengers of the inaugural flights last December 12, 2014.

“Children always dream of flying on an airplane. This Christmas we are making this dream come true by giving them the chance to join AirAsia Phils maiden flights to Davao and CDO,” said Atty. Joy Caneba, AirAsia Phils Chief Executive Officer.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony could have been the main highlight of AirAsia’s launch of Cebu-Davao and Cebu-Cagayan de Oro flights last December 12, 2014. Ho-hum but that’s what many other brands are doing.

Instead, AirAsia Phils devoted its launch to making 30 street children happy.

The experience, at the very least, made Christmas 2014 of 30 young Filipinos memorable. More important, the experience reinforced hope that their respective street kid NGOs are instilling in them.

For AirAsia officials, seeing the excited kids smile melted hearts. It makes the job of flying worth something more.

For Catherine Porlas of PRworks and Caloy Manlupig of Balay Mindanaw, the encounter with the kids meant something more. Both grew up not knowing who their real fathers are.

Indeed, the best PR uplifts lives. Uplifting lives did not just provide wings to the AirAsia launch. It brought the wind that made it soar. It also made our day.
