Globe brings Pokwang, Christine Reyes, Coco Martin to Pinoys in Guam

Globe Telecom, in partnership with network provider IT&E, gave thousands of Guam-based Filipinos a treat from the Philippines via the Kababayan Jam 2011: Handog Saya sa Pinoy, held recently at the Micronesia Mall in Agana, Guam.

A record 5,000 Filipinos flocked to the Micronesia Mall to watch the show, top-billed by Pokwang, Cristine Reyes and Coco Martin. Officials from the Guam Fire Department and Micronesia Mall said this was the biggest-ever audience gathered for a show at the mall. Globe and IT&E also raffled off cellphones, prepaid cards, gas coupons, and other gifts to spectators.

There are about 50,000 Filipinos currently residing in Guam, with an estimated 7,000 more in the neighboring Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, which includes Saipan.

“Many of the Filipinos residing in Guam and Saipan have not been back to the Philippines for more than a decade,” explained Rizza Maniego-Eala, Group Head for International Business of Globe Telecom, “The Globe-IT&E partnership aims to bring them a piece of home, by bringing in Filipino artists to entertain them and the lowest possible call and rates to the Philippines so they stay in touch more often with friends and family.”

Globe and IT&E offer the most affordable international call rates to the Philippines via the Globe-IT&E Kababayan SIM Card at the $0.14 a minute to any Globe or TM number in the Philippines. The two companies also launched a new postpaid offer with IDD calls to the Philippines at just $0.10 per minute and $0.02 per text message to all Globe and TM numbers in the Philippines.
