Nutrition Month Breastfeeding Rally stories and photos

Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary and National Nutrition Council (NNC) Executive Director Ma. Bernardita Flores led the launching activities of Nutrition Month 2011 at SM City Cebu last July 1, 2011. The long day began with the cutting of ribbons for the Breastfeeding Photo Exhibit that displays magnificent photographs depicting breastfeeding moms. With USEC Flores were Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) president Eric Ng. Mendoza, and NNC 7 Regional Coordinator Letlet Mission. The opening of the photo exhibit was followed by the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the setting up of lactation stations inside the premises of factories and offices in Mandaue City. After the press conference and a sumptuous eat-all-you-can lunch at the Cabalen-SM Cebu, the assembly was joined by hundreds of breastfeeding mothers for a breastfeeding rally at the SM City Event Center. One of the rally’s highlights was Cebu’s Ka Bino, clad in a chef’s costume, who launched the four-month and Central Visayas-wide Nutri Chef Challenge. PRworks Inc. helped NNC 7 and the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development (MIND) 7 organize the historic event as part of the public relations agency’s advocacy for nutrition. The PRworks vision, said managing director Doris Mongaya, is “managing perceptions to uplift lives.”
