Globe Telecom once again broke records after it posted its best quarter performance to date, with 3Q 2011 consolidated service revenues at an all-time high of almost P17 billion, 3% higher than the previous quarter against a backdrop of intense competition, bringing the company’s nine-month consolidated revenues to P50 billion, a 9% increase from last year’s levels. The growth momentum was also reflected in the company’s subscriber base, with mobile subscribers now at over 29.1 million and broadband subscribers at 1.4 million as of end-September 2011, on the back of a stronger and more competitive portfolio of offers that were made more affordable and relevant to subscribers. Aside from outstanding performance, Globe President and CEO (in photo) also announced that the company will invest US$790 million to upgrade and modernize its network and IT systems in order to meet the growing demand for services that require higher bandwidth, such as voice and data. The program is expected to bring significant improvements to network quality and capacity leading to signal reliability and stability, ease of access, and pervasive coverage.
