Puerto Princesa, Palawan (August 23, 2017) -- Yobie Benjamin and Aldo Carrascoso may not be well-known in the Philippines. But they are two Filipino-American serial entrepreneurs who have done amazing things.

Benjamin, for example, is not just into various projects that apply Internet of Things technology -- he raised $40 for a Silicon Valley company before it produced its first intelligent wearable headset. In Kenya, Benjamin is involved in Wildlife Works that sells carbon credits for protecting the rainforest and wildlife from poachers.

Why are geeks going to Palawan?

'Geeks on a Beach' 5 on Aug. 24-25
"We have something cool to reveal to you today. The most laid back tech Startup conference in the world will take place in the most beautiful island in the world," says Tina Amper in an email blast to her list from the previous Geeks on a Beach in Panglao, Bohol.

This time, she announced, GOAB 5 will happen in Palawan this August 24-25, 2017.

GOAB4 is coming: Int’l tech & startup conference set in Panglao on August 2016

The “Geeks on a Beach” (GOAB) international tech and startup conference, which has greatly contributed in empowering Philippine startups, will return for the fourth year in the scenic island of Panglao in Bohol this August 25-26, 2016.

This was announced by TechTalks.ph and the new Department of Information and Communications Technology (formerly DOST-ICTO) which co-organizes the event since 2013 as well as the MVP companies — PLDT SME Nation, Ideaspace, SmartDevNet, PLDT Innolab, Smart Communications — which are co-presenting the event this year.
