87 entries join GMEA Visayas 2016 shortlist

Globe Telecom has announced the roster of shortlisted entries for the 2016 Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA) in Visayas - Eighty-seven (87) entries from 789 entries submitted by print, online and broadcast journalists, columnists, bloggers, and social media influencers from Cebu, Bacolod, and Iloilo.

Hawok. The tradition of kissing Sto. Niño.

Our Sinulog vow and advocacy
Devotees at the linya sa hawok (line for the kiss) grow exponentially to several thousands as the feast of Señor Sto. Niño in Cebu City draws nearer. They line up for that precious moment traditionally called hawok (kiss).

They kiss, touch and wipe with a handkerchief the glass case protecting the image of Señor Sto. Niño believed to be miraculous.

The Awards Night of the Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA) Mindanao has been reset to December 3, 2015 at the SMX Convention Center even as a total of 58 entries were shortlisted for various categories of the most anticipated premier award-giving body that recognizes excellence in journalism in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The Awards  Night for the Visayas leg transpired last September 24, 2015 at the Cebu Grand Convention Center.
